Ethernet Network Extenders
Ethernet Network Extenders allow users to drive their Ethernet segments
beyond the IEEE 802.3 specifications for distance limitation of 328 feet or 100 meters.

Patton 2172 CopperLink 50-Mbps Ethernet Extenders

Ethernet Extension - Extends 10/100Base-TX Ethernet up to 5,500 feet over 2-wire AWG 26 unconditioned lines.

Operates Over Twisted Pair - Reduces the cost and hassles of new installations.

Utilizes installed voice-grade twisted pairs to eliminate the expense of fiber or Cat5e cabling.

Full-duplex data-line rate of 100 Mbps - Provides near fiber performance for bandwidth intensive applications such as Triple Play services.

Plug and Play - No configuration or cable hassles during installation with auto-sensing 10/100, full or half duplex, and auto MDI-X.

Multiple Line Rates Supported - Switch-selectable lines rates ensure the best possible line rate for each application. Asymmetric or symmetric - Adapts to service provider and enterprise applications.

Transparent LAN Bridging - Passes higher layer protocols and supports 802.1Q VLAN tagged and untagged traffic.

What are Ethernet Network Extenders?

An Ethernet Network Extender (also Ethernet Extender) is any device used to extend an Ethernet segment beyond its normal distance limitation of 100 meters for most common forms of Ethernet.

Ethernet Extenders that use copper wire include 2- and 4-wire variants using unconditioned copper wiring to extend a LANs. All the Ethernet Network Extenders we offer operate over a single twisted pair. Ethernet Network Extenders use various DSL modulation schemes to transmit information.  Copper-based Ethernet Network Extenders must be used on unconditioned wire, such as unused twisted pairs and alarm circuits.

Ethernet Network Extenders allow users to drive their Ethernet segments beyond the IEEE 802.3 specifications for distance limitation of 328 feet or 100 meters. Ethernet Network Extenders drive longer range, high-speed data communication between geographically separated LANs or LAN devices and create very cost effective bridged-Ethernet connections. Ethernet Network Extenders are typically deployed in commercial, residential, industrial and hospitality access environments.  But they are also in use on farms (to Extend Ethernet to the barn) homes, and businesses.  Ethernet Network Extenders can be referred to as Ethernet Network extenders, LAN extenders and Ethernet cable extenders and use a variety of transmission technologies over physical media such as copper or fiber. Extenders use copper wiring 1 pair unconditioned wiring (POTS) up to category rated twisted pair (CAT3...CAT6).  While transmitting over copper wire does not allow for the speeds that fiber-optic transmission does, it allows the use of existing voice-grade copper wiring, and speeds are increasing.

How Are Ethernet Network Extenders Used?

Ethernet Network Extenders eliminate the need for installing expensive 802.3 repeaters, twisted pair (CAT5/CAT6) cabling, or fiber and associated fiber transceivers. Ethernet Network Extenders provide the most cost effective solutions for any LAN extension project, including Wireless Access Point installation, IP Security Camera and POS (Point of Sale) applications. Ethernet Network Extenders create effective seamless LAN connections across disparate LAN’s in office parks, across streets, around college campuses, joining remote buildings or within large enterprise businesses.

Use existing copper wiring with a huge cost saving over traditional copper and Fiber solutions.
