Multi-Pair Ethernet Extenders Use 2, 4, or 8 Copper wires More Speed -- More Distance
The Patton 2162 uses 2, 4, or 8 wires for a maximum speed of 45 Mbps. The Patton 2161 uses 2 or 4 wires for 22.8 Mbps. And the Patton 2160 uses a single twisted pair, 2 wires, for a maximum speed of 11.4 Mbps.
Until recently, if you had copper infrastructure and needed to extend Ethernet to a mile or more you were pretty much stuck with a maximum speed of 4.6 Mbps. If you needed greater speed, you were forced to abandon the project, or absorb fiber optic infrastructure costs. The Patton 2157 was the best product we could offer, which has a maximum bandwidth of 4.6 Mbps over a single twisted pair. Enter the Patton 2160 family of products. With these products, multiple pairs of copper can be used to achieve bandwidths nearly 10 X greater. Many customer have chose to standardize on the Patton 2162 units so they can use one, two, or four twisted pairs depending upon what is available between central and remote locations.
These units also feature a built in 4 port Ethernet Switch. Follow the links below see the product details, specifications and distance charts.
