Most Ethernet Extenders designed to be used in home or office environments simply are not rugged enough to withstand industrial or harsh environments.  The plastic cases for standard Ethernet Extenders are not suitable, the desk oriented form factors do not lend themselves to industrial DIN Rail or Wall Mount.
