Our new Remote Port USB 2.0→CAT5 Extender enables you to extend USB
2.0 and 1.1 connections up to 50 meters (164 ft.) from your
workstation over CAT5 UTP cable. That makes it great for extension
applications using Hi-Speed USB 2.0 devices like CD/DVD burners,
scanners, and digital cameras. In addition, it supports full-speed
USB 1.1 devices like disk drives as well as low-speed 1.1 devices
such as joysticks.
For flexibility, you can use the extender’s local or remote unit to
connect up to four standard USB hubs—in any order—in a single chain.
The extender is truly plug-and-play and compatible with Windows®,
Macintosh®, and Sun® operating systems.
Power is supplied to the local and remote units via wallmount
adapters. USB devices attached to the remote unit receive 500 mA of
power.
